3 iPhone Apps To Download Before Your Snowboarding or Ski Holiday

If you are the sort of person who wishes it was winter all the time then you're most likely a fan of snowboarding or skiing. Heavy snow can be the cause of major disruptions sometimes but when there is no work and only play you can have a pretty cool adventure in the slopes, literally.
If you are planning on setting off for the ski and snowboarding holiday season, have you thought about some handy little apps that may help make you life easier whilst you are away? We have reviewed the top 3 ski apps you should not leave home without.
#1 Ski Resort Maps App
Quickly navigate your way around the ski resort you are staying in by using this app as you digital guide; also useful if you're prone to getting lost. It features 22 top ski resorts throughout Europe and America. Using your GPS location it quickly identifies bars, hotels, ski lifts etc for the resort you are staying in. You can also map your location as you set off for the day, keeping a trail of where you went and what you did. The resorts which are currently features within the app are as follows:
-AUSTRIA: Lech, St. Anton, Kitzbühel, St. Johann in Tirol
-FRANCE: Chamonix, Avoriaz, Méribel, Val d'Isère, Courchevel, Val Thorens, Brides les Bains, La Tania, St. Martin de Belleville, Les Menuires
-SWITZERLAND: Zermatt, Verbier, St. Moritz
-USA: Aspen, Snowmass Village, Buttermilk, Vail
-CANADA: Whistler
#2 Theodolite Free
This is a pretty nifty little app that uses augmented reality which provides a compass, GPS, zoom scope and two-axis inclinometer. It works by overlaying things like position, bearing and altitude in real-time using the iPhone camera. It is useful for most trips away but would also be good for hiking, boating, winter sports and general travel. It was also the number 1 selling app in the navigation category of iTunes around September 2010.
# 3 REALSKI
Another augmented reality trail map app. Suitable for the iPhone 4 or 3GS it uses the compass and camera features to overlay ski runs and key points of interest for popular mountain resorts in America. There are 80 additional maps available to download for a small fee. To use the app you just point your phone at the scene as if you were taking a picture and watch the screen as it displays chairlift names, ski runs and resort facilities on your display.
